Best Western Plus Posada de Don Vasco is the best and largest hotel in Pátzcuaro. It features colonial architecture typical of the Lacustre region. It has five hectares of spacious and beautiful gardens, a convention center with 10 multipurpose rooms, a colonial courtyard, a restaurant-bar, and a terrace with views of Pátzcuaro Lake and Janitzio Island.
The Best Western Plus Posada de Don Vasco Hotel opened in 1939. Construction of its first stage began in 1937 and by the time it opened in 1939 it already had eight hectares of gardens, 45 rooms (including 2 master suites), two colonial courtyards, a swimming pool and a casino. In a second stage, in 1960, the Tarascan section was built with 25 rooms and the hotel chapel. In the fourth stage, in the year 2000, the convention center was built, with 10 rooms with capacity for up to 1,000 people, and the jogging track, 400 meters long, on a 15 thousand square meter lot. The hotel has four different gardens, with capacity for banquets for 1,000 or more people.
The location is excellent since it is located on the main avenue of Pátzcuaro, just 5 minutes from Plaza Don Vasco and the main dock of the lake, where Janitzio Island is located. Near the hotel you will find tourist attractions such as Plaza Don Vasco de Quiroga, Plaza Gertrudis Bocanegra, La Casa de los 11 Patios, the old Jesuit school, the Basilica of Our Lady of Health and the Huitzimengari Palace.
